Just talk normally: "something funny for family night", "IPL highlights", "comedy laga de". Neo understands casual English, Hindi and Hinglish.
01What this is
We have more to watch than ever, and that is exactly the problem. Most nights end the same way: ten minutes across five apps, pecking out a title on a TV remote, and giving up before anything plays. The content is not the bottleneck; the finding is.
TLDR is your shortcut from "I feel like watching something" to actually watching it. Neo is the friend who has watched everything and remembers the good stuff. Message it in plain language and it finds the movie, show, trailer, match highlight, or song and puts it straight on your TV. The keyboard you already love becomes the remote. No typing on the TV, no hopping between apps.
02Getting started
You pair your phone to your TV once. After that, every request just works.
Pair your TV on WhatsApp
- Open the TLDR (Neo) app on your TV. It shows a 6-character code.
- Message us on WhatsApp and send it back:
/pair 123abc
- Neo confirms, you're in. Now just tell it what you're in the mood for.
Optional: use Instagram too
- On WhatsApp, send
/link and Neo replies with a fresh link code.
- Open our Instagram (lumio.tldr) and send
/link 123abc.
- Linked. Now you can message Neo from Instagram and share Reels & posters too.
Codes expire in 5 minutes. If yours times out, reopen the TV app (or re-send /link) for a new one. Pairing happens on WhatsApp; linking is redeemed on Instagram.
03Command cheat sheet
You rarely need commands. Mostly you just chat. But these are handy:

All live in the beta. Type the request in chat. Neo confirms and your picks appear on the TV as a browsable wall of posters. Tap one to play.
- Movies & shows + where to watch. Search by title, actor, director, franchise, genre, mood or language across Indian streaming services. Try: "Tom Cruise movies" · "best Korean thrillers" · "naya kya aaya hai"
- "Surprise me" discovery. No idea? Neo serves trending picks with a one-line take. Try: "I'm bored" · "what should I watch tonight"
- Trending & what's hot. Overall, or on a specific platform. Try: "what's good on Netflix" · "trending shows"
- Trailers. The latest trailers and teasers. Try: "latest trailers" · "Avatar 3 trailer"
- Sports highlights. Cricket, IPL, F1, football, NBA, tennis, UFC. Try: "IPL highlights" · "F1 last race" · "India vs England"
- Music & everything on YouTube. Songs and playlists, plus cooking, workouts, meditation, comedy, kids, tech, gaming, travel, podcasts, ambient. Try: "90s Bollywood hits" · "yoga for beginners" · "rain sounds for sleep"
- Share a Reel, post, or video, get the movie. Saw an Instagram Reel, post, or video about a film or show? Share it to Neo on Instagram and it recognises the title(s) from the clip and puts them on your TV. How: share any public reel or post to lumio.tldr
- Share a poster or screenshot. Send a single clear image and Neo identifies what it's from. How: send an image to lumio.tldr
- Watchlist. Save titles you want to come back to and find them again later. How: add to your watchlist from the results page

06What won't work yet
Honesty up front so you don't waste time testing these. If any seem to work oddly or break, that's still useful, so please report it.
- Telegram isn't live. Only WhatsApp and Instagram are active in this beta.
- Voice notes / voice search. Neo reads text (and shared Reels/images). Type your request instead.
- TV controls. Volume, brightness, power and channel are not supported. Use your TV remote.
- No memory between messages. Each request is fresh; "more like the last one" won't carry context.
- General Q&A / trivia. Neo is built for content, not general knowledge, so off-topic questions get a friendly nudge back to movies, sports and music.
- Live scores & live streams. For sports you get highlights and recaps, not a live scoreboard or live match.
- Private posts & carousels. Neo can't read private/age-gated Reels, and multi-image carousel posts aren't supported. Share a single public image or Reel.
- Your TV must be online. The TLDR app needs to be open and connected, or there's nowhere to show results.

08Tips for the best results
- Add a hint when you can. "family night" or "something scary" gives Neo a genre and sharper picks than a blank "show me something".
- Speak naturally. Slang and Hinglish are fine. "Bhai koi mast si comedy laga de" works perfectly.
- Keep the TV app open. Make sure TLDR is running on your TV before you send a request.
- Share clear Reels & posters. Clearer visuals or a descriptive caption help Neo nail the title.
The big idea
TV used to be simple: turn it on, and something good was waiting. TLDR gives that back. One message, and the night is sorted. Thanks for testing it early.
